Despite occasional tears today, I have gotten a lot done. My dissertation is now more than 200 pages long. While technically behind schedule, I am feeling more than capable of getting finished on time.

can i ask what your thesis is about? all the things you mention seem to indicate some sort of economics or maybe anthropology?
I'm in a multidisciplinary program. Don't want to give the exact details, since I feel a little weird about broadcasting my institution to the world (not sure why, really, but it is my blog so I get to indulge whimsies). But I am using game theory and history to diagnose the rottenness of the auditing profession and show that their involvement in scandals a la Enron are entirely predictable and that the rottenness goes a level or ten deeper than the policy debate allows. So yes, it is sort of econ/anthropology. or perhaps the economics of the culture of accountants....
