And still no peep about mattresses.

Mattresses

I think I am cursed when it comes to having things delivered. I purchased a mattress and boxspring last Sunday. It was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. Well I waited around with no word from the delivery people until I could get ahold of the store on Wednesday (which of course wasn't until midday). They said they would check on my delivery and call me right back. I waited an hour and called them. Turns out that the warehouse thought they were supposed to deliver it on Saturday.

I huffed and puffed and they said they could deliver it Friday. The warehouse would call me early in the morning, before 8, to tell me what 3 hour window I should expect a mattress to arrive. Well, it is Friday at 8:20 and no word from the mattress guys. Should I be worried?

The moving company has been giving me hell too. Blindsiding me with an extra $900 charge, not to mention charging me upfront for storage that I won't need (hopefully it will be refunded). As the lady at the relocation company pointed out, oh so helpfully, that the $900 charge wouldn't really matter since I would still get a few hundred dollar refund.

Oh goody

There is an unprotected wireless signal that offers nice coverage for my living room....

(I will eventually get my own--I'm not a permanent bandwidth pirate, but I figure it is okay to use lightly until then...)

Sigh

It has been so nice to be online and "working", feels familiar and relaxed. Of course, it turns out that my stuff is not arriving in DC until the 4th, so it will be a while living with only bare bones....

Not all bad, since my incredibly cool carriage house could use some painting. The previous tenant loves an aggressive purple color that needs to be tamed some. It is EVERYWHERE: trim, doors, kitchen cabinets....

Did I say already that I love Eastern Market? Both neighborhood and market. I adore it. I am mad that I lived here for 16 years and never knew it existed.

Hello
